Updates on Class Member's recent surgery
Kevin Eskew had surgery Thursday November 1 to remove a tumor from his pituatary gland which was pressing on the optic nerves and affecting his sight. Updates are given on the church's facebook page. You can find the page by going to First General Baptist Church of Bloomfield MO.

OBIT for Tica Camp
Mrs. Tica Robinson Camp of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. She was born on August 16, 1928, in Knobel, Arkansas, to the late Loren D. Robinson and Mildred W. Robinson.
She was united in marriage to Gus R. Camp on November 22, 1948, and were married for 51 years. She is survived by her four children: Pamela Camp Parrent and children, Melissa and Ryan Parrent; Charles Robinson Camp, his wife Allison and children Brad Camp and Alicia Higenfeldt; Cynthia Camp Cathey and her fiancé Dr. Randy McComb and children, Anna and Sara Cathey and Olivia and Grayson McComb; Christopher Lee Camp and his wife Tamara and children, Lee Camp and Catherine and Reece Crawford; three sisters: Ruth Durham of Norton, Kansas, Paula Hollis of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Amanda Lane of Searcy, Arkansas; one brother, John Robinson of Springfield, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Camp attended Arkansas State University earning her BS degree in Education and Home Economics. She later earned a BS degree in Library Science. She taught school for forty years at Campbell High School in Campbell, Missouri and in the Piggott School District. While attending Arkansas State University she was a charter member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and elected Vice President of their first chapter. She was also an ASU cheerleader and a member of several organizations at ASU.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas. She also has served on various committees for the City of Piggott over the past 50 years. Her passion was teaching. She loved her profession and was always trying to help a student learn and encourage them to attend college. She never met a stranger and lived her life to the fullest each day caring for others.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas, with Glen Pettus and Carol Jackson officiating. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation begins at Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to the Piggott Public Library or the First United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas.

Margaret Thompson
Margaret Ann Thompson, daughter of the late Lloyd Thompson and Dorothy Staggs Thompson, was born June 26, 1952, in St. Francis, Ark., and departed this life Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at the age of 60 years, 1 month and 21 days.
She is survived by one son, Terance Thompson, of Florida; two grandsons, Jake and Eric Thompson, both of New York; two brothers, Lloyd Thompson, Jr., of Patterson, Mo., and James Allison Thompson, of Van Buren, Mo.; two sisters, Sara Haywood, of Holcomb, Mo., and Mary Graddy, of Noble, Oklahoma, and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Maureen Chabot.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 20, at McDaniel Funeral Service in Kennett.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 20, in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett with Rev. Randy Vaughn officiating.

Dr. Kenneth Threet (August 25, 1931 - October 21, 2011) Guest Book Sign Guest Book
Dr. Kenneth A.Threet, 80 of Jonesboro, passed away Friday evening, October 21 (2011) at his home in Jonesboro.
Dr. Threet was born in Lead Hill, AR and had lived in Jonesboro for the past 11 years after moving from Lead Hill, with his wife of 59 years, Ruth Threet, who preceded him in death in March of this year. Dr. Threet served faithfully in Christian ministry for over 65 years. He served as pastor of Oregon Flat Baptist Church near Lead Hill; New Hope Baptist Church in Smithville; Southside Mission of First Baptist Paragould (now Immanuel Baptist Church); Beck Spur Baptist Church in Forrest City; Belmont Park Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, Texas; First Baptist Church of Oran, MO; First Baptist Church of Piggott; First Baptist Church of Mountain Home, AR; and Southside Baptist Church of Lead Hill. During his years of service as a pastor, Dr Threet held the position of Vice President of the Arkansas State Baptist Convention on three separate occasions, served on Board of Trustees at Southern Baptist College (now Williams Baptist College) for 16 years, including three times as president, and taught English and Social Science at North Arkansas Community College for 9 years. Dr. Threet was a graduate of the Berry School of Horsemanship, with an emphasis on trick horses; a graduate of Lead Hill High School; a graduate of Southern Baptist College; received his Bachelor of Arts from Arkansas State University; earned his Bachelor of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; and received his Doctorate of Theology from Luther Rice Seminary.
During his life Dr. Threet received many honors and accolades. He was asked to preach his own Baccalaureate service at Lead Hill High School, was named Outstanding Man of the Year in 1968, and was recognized as Distinguished Baptist Minister in1971. He also led tours following the journeys of Jesus and Paul through the Holy Land. He conducted a television ministry titled “Threet’s Treats” for 8 years, as well as wrote and produced a television documentary entitled “Working to Succeed”. He authored many published articles, including articles on church growth, visitation, increasing church attendance, and church organization. His leadership also extended into civic service. He was Chairman of the Northeast District of the Red Cross for 5 years, served as the honorary Chaplain of his local Arkansas National Guard for 20 years receiving an honorary commission as a Colonel. He was the Chaplain of the Clay County Jail and Piggott Hospital for 10 years. He was appointed to the Committee for Higher Education by Governor Rockefeller, was appointed to the Committee on Civil Disobedience by President Lyndon B. Johnson, and served as Chaplain of the Arkansas House and Senate on two separate occasions. Dr. Threet served on the Board of the School of New Hope for Special Children, the Board of Directors for North Arkansas Regional Medical Center for 12 years with one term as Chairman, and was Chairman of the Board to Establish and Maintain a Health Clinic in Lead Hill, AR from 1980 until his death After his retirement from full time ministry in 1993, Dr. Threet continued to serve the Lord by taking on interim pastoral positions throughout Northeast Arkansas. For the last several years the focus of his ministry was leading a large Sunday School class at Nettleton Baptist Church, where he has been a member for the last 11 years.
Survivors include sons, Bill Threet and wife, Doreen, of Jonesboro; John Threet and wife, Donna of LeHigh Acres, Florida; daughters, Kenne Threet Grafton and husband, Jon of Alexandria, Louisiana; Lisa Mason of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Tyson Wade, Cory Wade and wife Laura Beth, Shanna Threet, Russell Threet and wife Sarah, Kimberly Meyers and husband, Jamin, Christal Niemeyer and husband Dan, Nicole Alicea and husband, Erik, Don Grafton, Ken Grafton, Amanda Veal and husband, Larry, 11 great grandchildren and numberous nieces and nephews.

Jamie had a stroke and is in Rehab at this time. Prognosis for full recovery is very good, but will take time. Overall we are doing well and life is good. Jamie says to give all her friends a verbal hug and kiss. Mentally she is fine, and working hard to get well.

Reunion Information
The reunion is fast approaching. . . it starts October 8 just 2 weeks from today.
The class float which will be in the Homecoming Parade is progressing. We have the signs painted and lettered and the art class will be adding touches on them for us. If you are able to participate, we will be meeting at the VFW on Garfield @ 1:30pm. The parade begins around 2:00pm. After the parade we will be going to Heritage Park for a Tailgate party before the Homecoming Football game which begins @ 7:30 pm. We will be cooking up hot dogs, hamburgers and Smoked Sausages. We have had a donation of $50.00 to help with the cost of the food. Someone will bringing chili, nachos and sauerkraut. We are asking that iems for the Silent Auction be brought to the Tailgate Party. They will be on display so that we can get an idea of what there will be to bid on. PLEASE have your name on the item that you donate.
After the football game, everyone is invited to come to the home of Jim and Marty (Vaughn) Renard. The address is 930 Maxine in Piggott. We will be having refreshments and more time to visit.
Decorating of the Community Center will begin @ 9:00 am on Saturday. We will need some guys to set up tables and to run errands. We have lots of posters to put up and scrap books to set out. We also will need help putting out the Silent Auction Items and getting the bidding sheets arranged. The greeting table will need to be arranged so that it will run smoothly as classmates arrive. We also need volunteers to greet classmates after they enter the gym to let them know what needs their immediate attention, i.e. picture taking, silent auction and quilt dispay/raffle. After decorating the gym, we might want to all have lunch together at the Piggott Diner. . they have a large room that we can all sit in together.
Someone will be at the Community Center as early as 3:00pm to greet early birds who come. Official arriving time is 4:00 pm. We are having Hog Wild cater the meal. We will have a choice of Pork Steak, Pulled Pork or Chicken. They have done so well with selling BBQ out of a trailer in Piggott, that they have built a dine-in area which should be open by the reunion week end. They have GOOD food and hopefully everyone will be happy of our choice of caterers. We should be able to eat around 6:00 pm.
We hope that everyone enjoys the reunion and many old friendships are rekindled. There are 10 classmates on the list to attend who were not able to be here for the last reunion. For those of you who have not returned your questionnaire, please do so as soon as possible even if you are not going to come. We are trying to get all the information together so that we can have a copy for everyone who attends. If you can not attend and would like to have the material that will be handed out, please send $10.00 for s/h to Marty Renard, 930 Maxine Piggott AR 72454.

Marty,
I'm not recalling the means to post to the blog, but thought that there were classmates of ours who live out of town who might like to know that these fathers of some of the people that attended PHS during the same years that we did had passed away. Some played football with them & some were in FFA with them. Note that they were bros. who died 10 days apart. Would you please post to the blog? Thanks!

Piggott Times
Delbert Sample, 90, of Nimmons, Ark., passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House Jonesboro.
He was born Oct. 13, 1919, in Barcamp, Mo., and was the son of the late Hyder David and Zona (Mathis) Sample.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Joyce; one brother, Lester Sample, and two sisters, Ruth Risener and Deloris Allen.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Risener April 17, 1944.
Delbert was a Veteran of World War II and a farmer. He was also a member of the Nimmons Church of Christ for over 60 years.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Wilma Sample; two sons, Jerry Sample and wife Jackie of Paragould, and Robert Sample of Nimmons; daughter, Jean Taylor and husband Richard of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Kimberly Dopko and husband Josh, Carla Huff and husband Jeff, Melissa Raja and husband Umair, Eric Sample, and Rebecca Hancock and husband Brad; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Buford Sample of California, H.D. Sample of Nimmons and David Sample of California; one sister, Ione Redman of Piggott, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 17, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Bill Lovelace officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Taylor, Eric Sample, Brad Hancock, Jeff Huff, Neal Morgan and Gregg Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Jackson Hancock, George Huff, and Johnathan Huff.

He was born July 6, 1924, in Nimmons, and was the son of the late Hyder David and Zona (Mathis) Sample.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronnie Sample; two brothers, Lester and Delbert Sample; two sisters, Ruth Risener and Deloris Allen, and five infant sisters.
Survivors include four children, Norma Jean Lewis of Piggott, Richard Sample of Broken Arrow, Okla., Kenny Sample of Germantown, Tenn., and Deanne Leahy of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Buford Sample and David Sample, both of California; one sister, Ione Redman of Piggott, and many other relatives and friends

I'm not recalling the means to post to the blog, but thought that there were classmates of ours who live out of town who might like to know that these fathers of some of the people that attended PHS during the same years that we did had passed away. Some played football with them & some were in FFA with them. Note that they were bros. who died 10 days apart. Would you please post to the blog? Thanks!

Delbert Sample, 90, of Nimmons, Ark., passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House Jonesboro.
He was born Oct. 13, 1919, in Barcamp, Mo., and was the son of the late Hyder David and Zona (Mathis) Sample.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Joyce; one brother, Lester Sample, and two sisters, Ruth Risener and Deloris Allen.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Risener April 17, 1944.
Delbert was a Veteran of World War II and a farmer. He was also a member of the Nimmons Church of Christ for over 60 years.

Mug Sales
We will be selling mugs at 2 reunions this year. The Class of 65 on July 2 and the Class of 60 on July 3. Both reunions are at the Country Club and we need to set up around 5:30 on each night and stay until 6:00. Anyone interested in helping, please contact Marty @573-718-0055
