OBIT for Tica Camp


Mrs. Tica Robinson Camp of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. She was born on August 16, 1928, in Knobel, Arkansas, to the late Loren D. Robinson and Mildred W. Robinson.

She was united in marriage to Gus R. Camp on November 22, 1948, and were married for 51 years. She is survived by her four children: Pamela Camp Parrent and children, Melissa and Ryan Parrent; Charles Robinson Camp, his wife Allison and children Brad Camp and Alicia Higenfeldt; Cynthia Camp Cathey and her fiancé Dr. Randy McComb and children, Anna and Sara Cathey and Olivia and Grayson McComb; Christopher Lee Camp and his wife Tamara and children, Lee Camp and Catherine and Reece Crawford; three sisters: Ruth Durham of Norton, Kansas, Paula Hollis of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Amanda Lane of Searcy, Arkansas; one brother, John Robinson of Springfield, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Camp attended Arkansas State University earning her BS degree in Education and Home Economics. She later earned a BS degree in Library Science. She taught school for forty years at Campbell High School in Campbell, Missouri and in the Piggott School District. While attending Arkansas State University she was a charter member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and elected Vice President of their first chapter. She was also an ASU cheerleader and a member of several organizations at ASU.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas. She also has served on various committees for the City of Piggott over the past 50 years. Her passion was teaching. She loved her profession and was always trying to help a student learn and encourage them to attend college. She never met a stranger and lived her life to the fullest each day caring for others.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas, with Glen Pettus and Carol Jackson officiating. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation begins at Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to the Piggott Public Library or the First United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas.
