FALL YARD SALE NEWS

The annual fall yard sale was a success again this year. We have been able to deposit $900.00 into our scholarship fund. This year some new people got involved for the worthy cause. Johnny Hickson and Gary McComb helped with the transport of items from storage to the yard sale site. Larry Gatewood showed both days and was immediately put to work. Monetary donations for start up expenses were made by Teresa Hurst Edwards, Joe Cole, Debbie Mayberry Rhew, and Melinda Hampton Bauries. Items were donated by several people in Piggott. The Piggott Diner donated food for the hot dog sales and Ariel Bouquet donated pumkin balloons to attract attention to the sale. A surprise visit from Glenna and Ronnie Stephen was the highlight of Saturday afternoon! We stopped long enough to have a picture made with her. We had several items for the bake sale and were able to sell a great deal of them. Unsold items were donated to the Murphy Nursing Home. A great deal of our left over items were boxed to be sent to a charity in Kennett for needy families. We will be needing new old things to be sold at our next yard sale. We have plenty of storage in Piggott to accommodate items that are donated. Please consider letting us have the things that you don't want any more.

Profit from Mug Sales
August 7, 2008
We are pleased to announce that $750.00 from mug sales is being deposited into the Scholarship Fund. There are approximately 40 mugs left from the first shipment. There has been a $125.00 savings on the second order that was shipped. We will be starting all over with the mug sales.
Since these sales are limited to those who attended the old Piggott High School, we felt it unnecessary to ask each class member to sell a certain number of mugs. We did expect, however, that each class member would purchase a mug. As of this date, no orders have been received by mail. There is a chance that the mugs will be gone before the 2010 reunion. We will be selling them at the yard sales and at class reunions between now and then. There are no plans at this time to make an order for a 3rd shipment, so when they are gone, there will be no more.

Additions to Old Postings
FYI - - - Somtimes when there are more thoughts on an existing post, it will be added to that posting in a different color of print. Since there are no "new" posts, it might be that some of you would not scroll down and see the new entry on a older post.

A Memorial to Marcia Watson Rogers
It has been suggested that we do something in Memory of Marcia Watson Rogers who died from leukemia before our 25th class reunion. Since we did not have a scholarship fund set up at that time, we have not done anything as a class to honor her memory. Some have expressed the desire of donating a bench to Heritage Park in her name. We would like your input in the comments of this posting.
We have had suggestions of possibly purchasing a book for the Piggott Library in Marcia's memory or getting a brick in her name for the historic walk on the courthouse side walk. Both will be checked into, but we need some feed back as to how class members feel about both. As no e-mails will be sent, this is the only communication you will be getting.
